Past: CAMPI 4th Philippine International Motorshow August 16-19, 2012

The Event
The CAMPI 4th Philippine International Motor Show slated for August 16 to 19, 2012 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila, Pasay City comes on the heels of the successful motor show events in 2007, 2008 and 2010 that showcased the latest breed of passenger cars, SUVs, and commercial vehicles from local auto manufacturers.

Theme
In support of the government’s determined efforts to promote the country as a tourism destination and an investors haven, the theme for this year’s PIMS is “Drive the Fun” – in step with the Department of Tourism’s “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” tourism campaign slogan.

Advocacies
Beyond mounting a show of international caliber, this year’s PIMS will also support CAMPI’s staunch advocacy in re-crafting the new Motor Vehicle Development Program (MVDP) and underscoring the importance of enhancing the competitiveness of the local auto manufacturing sector to entice auto manufacturers to provide additional investments in the country.

Sustaining “My Drive+Earth” – the green motoring advocacy that CAMPI started in 2010, the motor show will again aim to raise awareness on the need to develop energy-saving technologies and fuel-efficient vehicles in modernizing basic transport for the masses. The show will again showcase the latest green technologies in fuel-efficient and alternative fuel-fed vehicles to include hybrids, clean-burning, diesel-powered vehicles, and fuel-efficient gas engines, among others.

For me the highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Toyota GT 86 and Lexus LFA to the public. Many other cars were unveiled as well on the same event, but what caught the attention most of all the car enthusiast in our country was no doubt the Toyota GT 86.
